Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hardcourt

A comeback the Russian player claimed his maiden championship for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has had a torrid year, winning just one win at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Currently training with Johansson and Goetzke, he has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's first title following the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt from that period of 2023.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has won 21 titles at twenty-one different competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters together, so to get a title is really nice," said ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six finals, comprising in that event earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching approach and regular emotional displays on court had caused some to wonder if his capacity to play at the top level was over.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and perform aggressively, backed up by an better service.

The champion came back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors traded service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial tour championship, seized the initiative to force a decider.

He defended four initial opportunities in a tight third set before the Russian broke to that score to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the title with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
